Orthodontic Office Design: Impact Orthodontics in Calgary , Albert

Impact Orthodontics is a 5-chair 2,250 square foot orthodontic office located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and owned by Dr. Jennifer Smith.  The project was completed in 2014 but was only recently photographed.  The central design element in the office is a free-standing “fireplace”.  While the doctor had originally hoped for a gas fireplace, it was prohibited in the building.  This setback was quickly turned into an opportunity.  Instead of a real gas-burning unit we designed a faux fireplace that incorporates glowing orb lights resting in a bed of glass pebbles with a tapered flue floating above.  The faux version provides all the visual interest of the real thing without the inherent drawbacks, i.e., kids touching hot metal.  Learn  more about Dr. Smith and her practice at http://impactortho.com/.
